This week, life has weirdly come together between work and school. At the clothing store I work at, I was given the opportunity to run their Instagram story in hopes of better representing our store’s workings, message and community. With that means creating content for stories, posts, interactions, store events, etc. Going along perfectly with this week’s topics about photography and the means behind taking a high quality photo, it has really helped to learn what we have been in class as I am able to take these skills into my current job right now and then into future careers. While I don’t necessarily have a passion for photography and all it entails, it’s still really convenient to be able to utilize my knowledge from this class and be able to better promote my store, especially since the content I’m creating is for a somewhat professional level

In addition to this overlap, I was excited that some of the information mentioned in this week’s module was not completely new. I had taken a graphic design class my senior year of high school and absolutely loved it, so some concepts like the rule of thirds & rasterizing and vector images. I think I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m really excited for all this class entails and teaches us about, and I can’t wait to keep learning about things I can take into my real life!

The past few weeks have been focused on audio, video and some coding topics which aren’t the most intriguing to me or relevant to my interests, however it was still nice to learn about other types of digital media. I did have a really fun time putting together my idea for the video or audio assignment, and I love that the assignments are supposed to show something meaningful to ourselves. With this, I was able to do a video with my best friend about our friendship, but still learning important principles to making a successful video. I enjoyed the modules on web design, since the design elements that go into it are more similar to my interests than audio or video projects. I’ve always been intrigued to start my own sort of web page or blog of my life, so it would be really useful to take what I’ve learned into doing this.
